Proposed Ironstone Windfarm by Regeneco

Plans were submitted to Cherwell District Council in September 2011 by Regeneco for a wind monitoring mast on farmland between Hanwell and Shotteswell. See plans online at www.cherwell-dc.gov.uk under application no. 11/01391/F.

At the same time Regeneco have announced that they have proposals to build a windfarm of between 5 and 8 large turbines on this land. A windfarm of this scale would be totally out of place in this landscape and would have a devastating impact on Hanwell and other local villages.

It is vital that large numbers of villagers respond to Cherwell Planning Department about the test mast itself, to make our strength of feeling known. Objections must be made by
20th October 2011.

A local action group SHAMWAG (Shotteswell, Hanwell and Mollington Windfarm Action Group) has been formed to fight against the windfarm proposals. Two meetings have already been held in the Hanwell Village Hall.

A letter of objection has been drafted for all residents to send to Cherwell which covers all the main valid planning reasons why the mast should be refused, namely:
  • Impact on quality of the landscape
  • Visual impact on the area
  • Impact on biodiversity and hazard to wildlife
  • Hazard to aviation in the area
Sample letter of objection for local residents to download: Letter  WORD
