The Village Lunch 2008
Unfortunately the weather repeated last year's dismal offering on the day of the 2008 Village Lunch, so once again we were in the Village Hall. However it was still a great turnout and a lovely lunch was enjoyed by all who came along. The event raised approximately £700 which will be split between St Peter's Church and the Village Hall. Thank you to all who contributed to the success of the day.
The Village Lunch 2007

Despite terrible weather conditions the 2007 Village Lunch went ahead in the village hall with a tent attached to the side which provided extra space but wasn’t quite as waterproof as it should have been! We managed to all squeeze in and considering all, it was a success and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Sadly we had to cancel the planned activities for the afternoon including the children’s races, a jousting horse, and sponge throwing but if this weather ever improves, we hope that we could do this at a later date in the summer. Otherwise there is always next year!
However, an event such as this doesn’t just happen and this years Village Lunch involved lots of people who all worked hard before and during the event.
A very big thank you to everyone who came along to the planning meetings; to Jill for designing the poster; to Richard for selling tickets; to Bob, Richard, Philip, John, Giles, Chris, Keith, Charles, Stuart and Nigel for putting up the tent, setting up the hall and clearing up afterwards; to Juliet, Liz and Susie for preparing a delicious meal; to Liz and Tim for performing on keyboard and guitar; to Keith and Pam who collected for and ran the Tombola; to Sheila and Colin for organising the raffle; to Karen for “Name the Teddy”; to Carol for arranging the flowers; to everyone who made desserts and cakes and to anyone else we may have forgotten!
Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along
and supported this event which made a total of £1,002 which will be split between the Church and Village Hall funds. |
