St George's Day Quiz
Saturday 17th April 2010

There were no points for spotting that this isn't actually St George's Day but questions were on all things English! Thank you to all who came along although we missed a team member who was affected by the volcanic ash!  It was a slightly different format for the rounds with titles of 'Rule Britannia' and 'By George' amongst others. Eleven teams competed with lots of fun and a good atmosphere, many positive and appreciative compliments afterwards and making a profit of £244 towards our next Village Hall up-grade - new loos!

Quiz ... a chilli night in November...

Several of our regular teams couldn’t be with us, so it was really good to welcome some new faces from the village and their friends from elsewhere who had heard all about our Quiz evenings and couldn’t
resist joining in! Eleven teams participated and it was particularly good to have 5 children there too. Not only did they behave impeccably, but young Isobel was the only person who knew the names of the 4 children in Narnia!

For several rounds there was very little in it between the KP Club and Atlantis Square Pantis, (where do teams find their names??!!) but in a very exciting last round on local knowledge, The Evergreens (Pam and Keith Williams with their two friends from the Evergreens Club in Banbury) overtook to become the winners for the night. They were
presented with the Hanwell Village Hall Quiz Cup plus a bottle of wine. The runners up were Atlantis Square Pantis who were a very close 3 points behind.

Thanks, as always, go to Quiz Master Nigel who set the questions along with Jill, and also to Juliet, Liz and Jill who fed everyone a delicious supper of Chilli Con Carne with garlic bread and salad followed by Hanwell Flapjacks. And, of course, thanks to all the teams who took part. Naturally the evening ended with a raffle of irresistible prizes for which we thank the donors. The total profit for the
evening was £294 which all goes towards the upkeep and improvement of the hall.

Watch this space for news of the next Hanwell Village Hall Quiz Night!
