Draft Core Strategy
The deadline for responses to Cherwell District Council's Draft Core Strategy has now passed. Thank you to all who registered their opinions. It should be possible to view all the submitted comments on Cherwell’s website within four weeks.

The District Council will now have to consider their plan in the light of public responses and the next stage is to publish the final Core Strategy in the autumn of 2010.

Village Lunch: Sunday 25th July at the Castle
Volunteers sought to form an organising committee. Please ring Bob 730677 or Charles and Suzy on 730314 if you can help in any way. Various games and fun for the children and an informal buffet lunch. Please book before 15th July. More details to follow soon.

Gordon's Book
Gordon Paxton's book of his life and the village is now available (£10). Ring Gordon on 738907 or drop into The Old Post Office when you are passing.


The new children's playgroundChildren's playground
The playground has proved to be a real attraction for the children and looks fantastic. We even have visitors from other villages coming to use it.

Built using mainly wood, the playground is based on a castle theme 'in keeping' with its village location.
Bell Ringers wanted!
The Church tower - Photo by Carl PortmanThe Service of Dedication, led by the Bishop of Oxford, of the restored church bells was held on 5th April.

If you are interested in ringing the new peal, or would like to learn to ring, please contact Philip Ledger (Tel: 01295 738 174) or come along to the church on a Saturday morning.

Hanwell wine society was established late last year to provide an opportunity for anyone interested in wine to meet once a month, to share/ taste/ drink wine, discuss the wine, but most importantly to simply enjoy drinking wine.
