HANWELL PARISH COUNCIL
Response to Hanwell Draft Conservation Area Appraisal June 2007

The Parish Council welcomes the updated Appraisal and is very grateful to Cherwell DC for preparing a very professional, thorough and interesting document.

The Parish Council would like to confirm that it supports the overall aims and objectives of the updated Appraisal.  It is unfortunate that the turn-out was rather low at the consultation meeting but this does not alter the importance attached to conservation issues by the village.

The Parish Council would like to confirm that it supports the existing boundary and agrees that there is no need to amend this.

In terms of the recent Persimmon appeal at Hanwell Fields, the Parish Council would confirm that it strongly supports the comments in section 9.1 regarding the pressure on the village from urban extensions and the need to protect the setting of the Conservation Area.  This small village has been in a rural environment for 800 years – it deserves to be protected from urban development.

The Parish Council would like to confirm it is interested in the concept of a Hanwell village management plan as an addendum to the Conservation Area appraisal which might be adopted by the Parish Council and used to encourage sympathetic enhancements.

The Parish Council trusts that these comments are helpful and thanks Cherwell DC again for its work in preparing the Appraisal.
